apple juice is necessary for successful flush

I used the recipe for the Liver Flush on toolsforhealing.com and my first 2 flushes were great. The 3rd time I used the recipe in Dr. Clarks book, (which omits apple juice and psyllium husks)and nothing came out. I went back to the toolsforhealing recipe and I'm getting stones out. It seems like my stones are getting bigger and fewer though.
