Re: Colonics rock!!!
Nope,
colonics have no effect on enzyme activity...that occurs (or should) before the waste material enters the large intestine or colon. Undigested food particles are the result of one or both of the following: inadequate chewing and insufficient of digestive enzymes. Enzymes are released in saliva with the process of chewing...which also mechanically breaks food down. Once it enters the stomach acids further break it down and the stomach acid signals the release of pancreatic enzymes which furthers the process. As the 'chyme' passes through the small intestines bile that is manufactured by the liver and released by the gallbladder enters the mix to break down fats.
Age and a diet devoid of sufficient raw foods accounts for a lack of digestive enzymes...also some people produce too little stomach acid (HCL) so the pancreas gets a weak signal to release enzymes. And then, of course, liver and/or gallbladder congestion or blockage can disrupt the digestion process, too.
Undigested food in the stool is very common and contributes to low energy...you don't get the nutrients from food and your body is working harder than it should trying to digest what your putting in it.
Virtually everyone could benefit from chewing more...'drink your solids and chew your liquids'...in other words, everything you swallow should be in a liquid state. Also, unless you eat a tremendous amount of raw food and juice regularly...anyone could benefit from a good digestive enzyme...and some need betaine HCL supplementation, too.
