Re: Bad experience, can someone help me figure this out please?:(
MG,
I just went for my daily 3 mile run and I was thinking about you the whole time and wanted to add to my previous comments. While I was running, I was thinking about how effortlessly I can do this now that I've been running for a year. I remember the first time I started a year ago, I thought I was going to have a heart attack even after only a half mile! So, now I realized that I started out slow, only running a half mile a day, then every 2 weeks increasing the distance by a half mile. And it took me a few weeks to get up the full 3 mile distance.
I remember my friend asked to help him move his furniture a couple years ago. He had not done much physical work in a long time as he had an office job and didn't exercise much. Well, that furniture is heavy and he was lifting a heavy cabinet and when he set it down this right arm locked in a bent position. He then took his left arm and was trying to pry (force) his right arm back so that it would straighten out. I said, "NO! Don't do that! You shocked your muscle and tendons in your arm! If you force it, you will damage your tendons and possibly cause permanent damage. The tendon needs to relax on its own, sit down for a while and don't move your arm until it releases on it's own. You'll feel when it releases, you'll be able to move it without forcing it." It took a couple minutes, it unlocked and he was able to move his arm again. What had happened is that he SHOCKED (strained) on his bicep muscle. These muscles were not used to taking that much stress.
I used to live up north where it is quite cold all winter. Many people were kinda "couch potato" like during the winter staying indoors out of the cold most of the winter. So, come spring time they were all ready to get out their ball gloves, tennis shoes, etc. not realize that they were out of shape and then there was a high number of cases of sports injuries in the hospitals. Every spring the news media warned everyone to take it easy when it warmed up. They were out of shape, want to get back in shape all at once and then shock their bodies.
The same thing could happen if we are unhealthy for a long time and suddenly want to get healthy again. So, we read and listen to health talk shows, read
Health Forums etc. So, we hear that this vitamin is good for that, and that vitamin is good for that, and this and that is good for that. And, we are desparate to get healthy, and so we think, well if I just take ALL of it and a LOT of it all at once, I will get healthy quicker! Wrong! YOU CAN GET WHAT IS CALLED HYPERVITAMINOSIS OR VITAMIN POISIONING! Just like an athlete trains for years to work up to his or her peak performance. It doesn't happen overnight! It may take quite a while for us to get back to the "healthy" state that we may want to acheive, but we must start slowly and increase dosages minutely and gradually. You probably just shocked your system with too many vitamins. Please read the article on vitamin toxicity. You'll be alright, but just cut down on your intake...
