Re: GrassRoots Movement Food for Thought - Seriously Now...

I've been watching Dean since he first got press attention. He said the things that made my heart thump and he became my man. The problem is, that the last Democrat that got elected president by standing as a liberal was Carter. All other Dems have moved to the center in order to get the Regan Democrat votes. They are the morons that are keeping Bush's popularity and performance polls in the high 60s - low 70s. They think (and vote) based on "their" experience in "their" closely defined and confined worlds. You see them on cruise ships and at Carribean resorts mixing with the natives if those natives happen to be the hired help. They have no deep moral or psychological beliefs and couldn't care less if Medicare or homeless programs are stripped. If a tax reduction will get them a new Skidoo, a trip to Disney Land or a digital TV - that's what is important. They read what Ophra tells them to read and Dad gets his artistic kicks watching the NASCAR races. Intelectually they are pure - they aren't intellectual. Thought takes too much energy and time. They let the television tell them what to buy, what's okay morally is determined by their sitcoms, while Fox and Limbuagh inform them politically.
Dean will not appeal to the Regan Dems, thusly, he most likely couldn't beat Bush. Just prior to the 2002 election Gore used class warfare successfully - he won the election, so maybe Dean can too.
