Down is collected during times when birds moult. I used to have budgies and cockatiels so i know all about moulting. Moult is quilless. Feathers have quills (prickl..ouch) and our not suitable for comforters or pillows. Goose down is the prefered down over duck due to less odor. Ducks stink. Some companies blend milkweed with down which neutralizes any allergenic properties for anyone who may have a problem with down. Tweet
