A Liberal's Approach to Rape and Bicycles....

This is so funny and an example of the typical liberal mindset.

Here's a prototypical moral question that separates individualists and liberals. A scantily-clad woman, walking alone in a rough part of town, gets attacked and raped. Was the woman "responsible" for what has happened to her?

In debating this scenario, the liberal will usually focus on two points: the woman's "right" to dress as she pleases, and the fact that the violent act was committed against her. No kidding. Rape is an act of violence, an act of violation.

The individualist would ask, however: didn't the woman in fact commit an act which contributed to, if not necessitated, the attack? I.e., being where she was, dressed as she was, all but wearing a big neon sign that says "Fresh meat." Doesn't she deserve blame for provoking the attack, the individualist might ask.

The liberal would be incapable of even hearing such a question. The liberal would be too busy clinging to the fantasy of an "ideal" world where sluts and ghettos can live in beautiful harmony happily ever after.

Take another example. A car, travelling twice the legal speed limit, hits a bicyclist who is riding along the side of the road. Does the bicyclist deserve any blame for the accident? What if the accident occurred at midnight and the bicyclist was dressed in black and was riding a bicycle without reflectors? In this case, at least, don't the bicyclist's actions contribute to the cause of the accident? A true liberal, in a never-ending quest to shield the "victim" from all responsibility for his or her own actions, would throw all blame on the driver of the car. Unless, of course, the car was driving with its lights out and was hit by a sixteen-wheeled tractor trailer, which by hitting the unseen car caused the unseen bicycle to be hit.

Same goes with the woman who finds it reasonable to take a tour of Harlem at midnight while wearing a miniskirt and push-up bra. If she were raped by a group of poor, abused, teenaged, black boys previously arrested unfairly by white police officers, then neither would they be responsible. In this case, "society" gets the blame. And what the hell, let's throw in the detail that the woman is white. That would break the scale. Of course, if the woman were black, you wouldn't even hear about this story. Not because liberals in the media are racist against blacks and are thirsting for white victims. But because there's no easy way to paint the black rapists as victims themselves. To insinuate that poor, abused, teenaged, black boys deserve responsibility for a crime is to destroy the liberal's belief in non-responsibility. Black on black crime? Not even worthy of mention.

Feminists would be even more blatant in their contradictions. A feminist would go so far as to decry p 0 r n o g r a p h y for its "influence" on violent crime, while at the same time championing a woman's right to dress like a slut in a ghetto. Pictures of nude women cause rape, according to feminists, but handing one's self on a silver platter to a rapist does not.

How far can we take the principle of non-responsibility? Much farther.

A naked white woman, riding a bicycle through Harlem at midnight, is hit by a police car driven by a white police officer who had used the word "animal" twenty-five years ago in reference to a pedophile with one black grandmother. The white police officer had just swerved to avoid hitting a group of black, drug-dealing teenagers blocking the street during a protest against police brutality which had erupted into a riot. The riot was coming to an end, after the last Korean store owner had been beaten to death with bats imported from Japan, and the rioters were now in the process of pulling a Pakistani taxi driver out of his car (a driver who had once failed to stop to give Danny Glover a ride) and were now spraying him with mace previously tested on endangered monkeys in the hopes of obtaining the man's $120 pair of Nikes. At this moment, the police car turned the corner on the way to a fire in a white neighborhood where an all-male fire department was battling the blaze with union-unapproved fire hats. One of the black drug dealers, only eight years old, took a break from beating up the taxi driver to point a toy gun at his little sister, who was eating a greasy hamburger (marketed to children using a cigarette-smoking cartoon llama), and the car swerved, just missing a five-mile-to-the-gallon SUV and plowed through a box made with only 5% post-consumer corrugated cardboard recently vacated by a homeless, illegal Mexican alien, smack dab into the curb. On impact, the police officer flew through his windshield, genitals first, right into the naked woman on the bicycle, who was knocked head first into a roach-infested housing project.

The cause of the woman's death?
