Re: UK chair of CAM
What do I mean by hate figure? Well when the Professor (can't remember his figure) is addressed as "the bugbear of Exeter" that's what I mean. His remit is to research CAM. Surely this is good - unless you fear research? And why would that be?
Since there are many companies that make millions out of CAM, there should be plenty of funds available.
I don't think you can explain everything by vested interest - because then you are resorting to
Conspiracy theory (and you know my objections to that).
The mentality of "sides" is not productive. Entrenched dogma doesn't allow for a reasoned evaluation of the facts. But you cannot expect acceptance of things like the
Liver Flush which has been proved to not work as it is said to. For alternative therapies to be accepted by the mainstream they need to submit to scientific evaluation. If they "pass" they are no longer alternative medicine.
There are plenty of complementary therapies that have been evaluated and found to be effective. Something works or it doesn't. What school of thought claims the modality doesn't matter as it is not a point scoring exercise, but an exercise in finding the best possible treatments.
