same here. And giving the med was not an easy decision for me, believe me. I was scared by all the negativity about methylphenidate, but on the other hand I had a child who was already failing first grade, despite a teacher WELL-versed with ADHD, as she raised a daughter with it. She was a saint, but it just was not enough.
The first days my child was on Concerta, it felt like I was getting the real child back: the sweet compassionate, energetic, funny kid I knew existed "in there" somewhere, but that was buried by all this "noise" in his head.
IMO, those who bash methylphenidate, parents who give it to their kids, but who never raised any children with ADHD and comorbid disorders have the least right to bash, IMO, because they have never walked a foot in the parent's or child's shoes.
