Well sure they should. Fathers too?

But there are influences greater than parental ones, especially once they reach adult age. At that point, I expect and have ensured that MY kids to know that killing is wrong, that conscription and forced army duty is still no excuse to join in.

We are responsible people, we should act like it. Murder is not the answer.

It can get difficult to stick with that sentiment tho'... what if Bush decides to take Canada... what about the Iraqis right now? Isn't taking up a rifle and plugging a few invaders the right thing to do? What if uniformed foriegners were in your home town right now? I hope that day never comes.

To confuse the issues further,in the modern era all wars are phoney, trying to inspire violence...trying to get us to kill each other...
Imagine- The Americans in Iraq, or Hitler in Canada - what if we just let them come, since they are so determined, and would we find that life would return to the local normal soon after the shooting stopped? Hitler could not really run the world, things would just retur to normal. Its like a househould temporarily upset by a teenager's rantings and ravings... just let it play out and don't do anything with a permanent outcome during those times or upset.
