Soul Mates?

been thinking about soul mates lately and wondering what others think of this idea. there are some soul mate experiences on the nde site http://www.nderf.org that are pretty intense. some think of soul mates as the one and only true love for you.

but perhaps a soul mate could also be someone of your same gender that you have a non-sexual relationship with, in the sense that you two had a soul contract before incarnating on earth to help each other out and spur each others spiritual evolution.

also two people who have an intesne heated but mostly hateful relationship could also be seen as some type of soul mates in the sense that they are locked into a kind of power struggle that each are learning from even tho it happens thru lots of conflict and pain. i once knew a man and wife who fought visciously all day every day, once i had to literally pry his hands off her throat, something he later thanked me for. i think he might have killed her if i was not there. and believe you me she instigated the whole thing! anyway i think they had some kind of twisted dark soul mate relationship.

of course i really want to meet my special someone, but maybe there are many soul mates you come across in this life. and perhaps there are many different soul mates you could choose as your sexual partner/wife/husband/co-parent etc.

and what is this mysterious force that attracts soul mates to each other? hmmmm... now thats something for the scientists to get started on!
