Re: Petit Mal & left temporal lobectomy!

Hello Lisa-Marie ,

PLEASE ADVISE / HELP ME. I AM PSCYCHED.
I have a 6 month old daughter.
During her first month she stiffened her arms . Before we took her to the paediatric neurologist which was in her 4th month...she had had 4 such attacks.

The doctor did an EEG and concluded that she had a mild seizure . I remember reading petit-mal in the reports.
She is currently under medication : Valporin twice a day.
She has not had the attack since then.

My concerns :

1. How long will the medication have to continue tho' the doctor says 1-2 years.
2. Will this be associated with side effects like slow learning. She is an active kid and reaching all her milestones pretty fast.
3. Can I at a later stage put her to some sports like tennis etc. which I was interested my kid should do.

Kindly share your thoughts on this.
Please help.

Regards,

rao
