Re: nutrition
My doctor (a biochemist nutritionist) says that in order for my cells to function properly I need to restore my digestion first. That is done in part by eating organic free range eggs, fish and chicken, raw milk, plenty of raw or lightly steamed vegetables, salads, legumes, and probiotics like plain kefir. I have to eat alkaline forming foods like vegies and put lemon juice in my water, (but that can be confusing because even though lemons, for example, are acidic, they become alkaline in the stomach.) I also have to take an HCl/pepsin supplement because depleted HCl causes incomplete protein digestion. The main idea I got from what he told me is that natural enzymes and friendly bacteria need to be restored with this type of eating and that when this is accomplished my body will be able to take care of a lot of the other problems on its own- including Candida and
food allergies .
I also take flax oil with every meal (for EFAs) and put tracelyte minerals in my water as well as take a liquid calcium and magnesium morning and night- oh, and I am supposed to drink 4 glasses of Emergen-C (a mineral and vitamin C supplement) each day. This is in addition to taking B vitamin supplements and an adrenal glandular. I am supposed to eat fresh organic food whenever possible to avoid pesticides and hormones and I'm not supposed to use a microwave oven or heated oils (frying) because they create free-radicals that place an extra burden on the liver. He also has me drinking a sort of protein shake made from raw milk, raw eggs, lecithin, nutritional yeast, wheat germ and a few other things, that is supposed to help restore my low reserves.
I know this isn't a real specific reply as to what to eat, but I hope it is helpful. The main point I keep running into with everything I hear and read is that the American diet is devoid of adequate nutrients and we are all getting sick from malnutrition. If you have any specific questions, I will do my best to answer from what I am learning.
Oh, by the way, my doctor also said to beware of dieticians who call themselves nutritionists because they go by the USDA pyramid and don't know about nutrition from a scientific perspective.
