Bush and Kerry both share the same dark secret...

Bound By Secrets

The fact George W. Bush and John Kerry was/is a member of Skull and Bones is no secret. Their involvement is not conjecture of Conspiracy theorists. Bush and Kerry openly admitted their involvement in an interview with Tim Russert:

Russert: You were both in Skull and Bones, the secret society.

President Bush: It's so secret we can't talk about it.

Russert: What does that mean for America? The Conspiracy theorists are going to go wild.

President Bush: I'm sure they are. I don’t know. I haven't seen Web pages yet. (Laughs)

MR. RUSSERT: You both were members of Skull and Bones, a secret society at Yale. What does that tell us?

SEN. KERRY: Not much, because it’s a secret.

MR. RUSSERT: Is there a secret handshake? Is there a secret code?

SEN. KERRY: I wish there were something secret I could manifest there.

MR. RUSSERT: Three twenty-two, a secret number?

SEN. KERRY: There are all kinds of secrets, Tim.

John Kerry has aired his anemic view of faith. It is difficult for me to take Kerry’s "faith" seriously. I doubt many do. Therefore focus of this article is on George W. Bush’s supposed evangelical faith. Whatever I say about Bush equally applies to Kerry in relation to Biblical Christianity.

Bush’s faith has received a great deal of press. It has captured the attention of many sincere followers of Jesus Christ in the country. On the grass roots Christian level, Bush is painted as the godly Christian and Kerry as the demonic liberal. Books have been written on Bush’s beliefs. Pictures have circulated showing the president praying on a number of occasions.

Since he is being depicted as one of the fold, I think it prudent to examine his involvement in an organization that is so "secret" he cannot talk about it. What actually went on in the Skull and Bones meetings or what he actually did during his initiation ceremony cannot be documented with any real degree of accuracy to convince the average churchgoer. Because of this fact, I suggest a different tact. Let us examine whether a Christian can or should be part of a secret society and what should our response be to those in these societies. There are many secret societies through out the United States and the World. Skull and Bones is just one among many.

First, let us establish some facts:

1. George W. Bush was a member of Skull and Bones, a secret society at Yale University.
2. He had to take some secret vow and do some secret initiation to become a member. This is a safe assumption since the very nature of secret societies means vows and rites of initiations.
3. This society still has a hold on him and he still has an obligation to it.
4. He cannot talk about it even to this day.

Those who believe George W. Bush is a "born-again" Christian face a dilemma. If you really believe he has genuine faith, how do you reconcile what the Scriptures say on the issues related to secrets? The Bible demands we confront a brother in sin and if he does not repent, we are to not stay in fellowship with him while he remains unrepentant. On the other hand, if he is deceiving the evangelical church, he is worse than a misguided sheep. The Bible has a great deal to say about deceivers and who their father is. Either way, Christians should be very concerned for George W. Bush and John Kerry.

The first principle of secret societies must be rooted in the nature of God Himself. In 1 John 1:5 says:

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Biblical Christianity does not hold to a dualistic view believing God has a little bit of darkness or evil in Him and Satan has a little bit of light or goodness in Him. God is completely pure, holy and sinless. Satan is not the opposite of God. Satan is dark and evil because he is twisted and warped. Satan’s evil is parasitic and corruption permeates his whole being. Jesus calls him the "father of lies" in John 8:44 and says "there is no truth in him." A lie is not the opposite of truth in the absolute sense. A lie is a twisting and warping of the truth.

Now that John has established the absolute purity and holiness of God he turns his attention to believers. He says in verses 6 and 7:

6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

The life of a Christian has the same quality as God. We do not walk in darkness but in light. Light reveals. Light is open for all to see. Light brings fellowship in the Body of Christ because we have nothing devious and sinful to hide. The opposite is true as well. Followers of Jesus Christ cannot walk in darkness because it is against God’s character. Darkness is where evil dwells. It divides and separates. Those in darkness do not want to be exposed:

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. {reproved: or, discovered}

21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. John 3:19–21

If Christians call George W. Bush a brother in Christ, they must call him out of the darkness and into the light. They must confront this evil in his past and call him to repentance. Why aren’t the pastors surrounding George W. Bush speaking the truth in love to him? I suspect they use the power and influence being associated with the president for their advantage. It keeps the numbers and the offering up.

I find it interesting, Bush and Kerry could easily have passed off their involvement in Skull and Bones as college fraternity nonsense. They could have laughed and blamed their involvement on sophomoric stupidity. I suspect this would have defused the situation in the minds of the skeptics. Apparently it doesn’t matter to the hardcore supporters of either candidate but it could have swayed the undecided.

Darkness and evil go hand in hand. Skull and Bones’ on going influence upon Bush should cause us concern. We are told in 1 Corinthians 6:

14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Why are evangelicals not calling for him to sever his unholy yoking with darkness? There are many denominations and independent churches in America who explicitly state their members cannot be members of secret societies. Among them are the Assemblies of God, the Free Methodist Church and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Many churches forbid it because it is an unholy yoking with darkness. This yoking has resulted because of the secret vows and initiations he passed through. There are many scriptures telling us not to take vows or enter into covenants not in line with God’s will:

But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. Matthew 5:34–37

But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation. James 5:12

Let us give Bush and Kerry the benefit of the doubt. Let us say they were ignorant college students who got involved with a secret fraternity. There are many things we all have done in our youth. Now we are adults we must turn from our childish ways and be adults. To "turn" in Biblical Christianity means to repent.

It is possible to break the power of these vows, initiations and covenants. Neil Anderson has brought one way out in his excellent book The Bondage Breaker. He developed a very useful tool called The Steps to Freedom found in the back of his book. Step one has a Christian renounce all involvement in false teachings, false prophets and secret societies. George W. Bush and John Kerry can find liberty from their involvement in Skull and Bones. Jesus Christ was very clear in Matthew 6:24;

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

If George W. Bush has the level of faith in Jesus Christ he and his followers claim, he has to make a choice. He cannot serve the Skull and Bones society and Jesus Christ. Both he and Kerry have to make a choice. The fact he admits the secrecy of this organization still lays claim to him should cause the entire country, the entire world grave concern.

For those of you who are followers of Jesus Christ, I call upon you to pray for both George W. Bush and John Kerry. These men are in bondage. They have an allegiance to darkness. It is the duty of Christians to call these men to repentance and not support either of them as long as they are bound by secrets.
