Gestational Diabetes-Please, please Help!
Hi,
I really need some advice! I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and tried to get pregnant for 3.5 years. I have used
Dr. Schulze 's products over the past year and I am now almost 16 weeks pregnant! (YAY)! I was doing seasonal cleanses, vegan diet (on and off, but did stay on it for a solid 3 months) and female formula as well as the intestinal cleanses seasonally. I also lost 55 lbs along the way, but I'm still 80
lbs. overweight.
Anyway, my Dr's have been having me check my blood
Sugar levels because Gestational Diabetes is so common in PCOS. They want me to be under 90 for fasting and under 120 1hr after meals. They aren't happy with my fasting levels which have been ranging from 80 to 93 and now they want to put me on insulin!!!! Please help!
I worked so hard to get pregnant naturally and I'm determined to STAY pregnant Naturally as well. I was eating mostly vegan until 10 weeks pg, when everything green/and various veggies started to gag me and I couldn't get them down. I never got morning sickness, but just these food aversions. From 10 weeks to current (16) I have been eating fish, poultry, and dairy, as well as lighter green veggies (ie romaine lettuce instead of baby greens), but not nearly as much veggies as I need. The past couple days I've been on a mission to reintroduce as many veggies as possible and try to go vegan again.
I know this is turning into a book, but please bear with me... I was thinking that maybe cleansing my liver would help with my morning sugars because the nutritionist told me that it's my liver that is dumping glucose back into my bloodstream at night which is causing my high morning sugars. In that light, I would think the vegan diet would help because it's less crap/cholesterol to affect the liver, but I also have been thinking that beets, lemon juice, and garlic would be good to eat daily to cleanse liver/help blood
Sugar levels. I'm trying to work them in. I also bought some buckwheat farinetta and have been eating it in muffins as it is supposed to lower blood sugars (it has a bunch of D-chiro-inositol - I don't even know if this is safe in pregnancy!). I also put 1 tsp cinnamon in my morning superfood. Oh, and I also walk 1-2 miles 6 days/wk.
Does anyone have any comments/advice? What about the things I am going to try already? Is it safe to take Dr. Shulze's liver formula during pregnancy? I really, really don't want to go on insulin, but if my sugars don't go down, do I have any choice? I told the Dr's that I wasn't even going to consider insulin unless my sugars go over 95. They said that there is no doubt that I will need to go on insulin before the end of my pregnancy. (LOVE their optimism!) I don't want to hurt my baby, but if I can do this naturally then I will. I would love any feedback anyone can give me.
Thank you!
