Re: I don't know how to react...

if you read the threads on this page, you'll find out just how unreliable the standard western blot is. there is a test by bowen, that is not cdc or fda approved, and is for research only. this is the test that seems to be true, for most of us.

here's the link. they have a listing of doctors in your area that do their test. and if there aren't any doctors near you, other doctors just have to get set up with them in order to get the test. not every doctor believes in this test. it is an antigen test, they will take pictures of the lyme bug in your blood. insurance does not cover it, and it will show up as a tax free donation.

there is another company, igenex, that is alittle more mainstream, which insurance will cover. and also has an antigen test. they also have antibody tests that test for bands which are connected with chronic infections. whereas the standard western blot that is in use everywhere only tests for new infections. i'm a perfect example - i had a standard western blot lyme test in 2002 which was 'equivocal' and a second standard blot in 2004 which was 'negative, no bands present.' yet, i was sicker, and the bowen test showed me with a 1:64 amount of lyme in my blood. so obviously the western blot was not correct.
