Recurring dreams about swimming pools

Hi, wonder can anyone make sense of this -
For most of my adult life since my late teens I've been dreaming about swimming pools - usually occurs every few months (I'm female in my 30s). The swimming pool is always an indoor one and the surroundings are usually sort of small, a little shabby, not at all like a modern one in a leisure centre or anything. And mostly its empty, nobody else swimming in it although once or twice there have been. Usually in these dreams I want to get in and swim but there is always some reason why I cant - the pool is closed, its being cleaned, the water is contaminated - I had one dream where the pool was full of corpses and the water was almost black... every dream theres a different reason why i cant get in and swim and i'm always disappointed and irritated about it. In only one of these dreams did i manage to get in and swim but I only stayed in for a couple of minutes before i decided i wanted to get out again.
Any theories??
