The only way I know to use flax seeds is to put them in a grinder (low speed preferably, like a juicer that masticates) to release the oils and eat the whole thing.

I am suspect of flaxseed oil that Wal-Mart would sell. You basically get what you pay for, and flaxseed oil is highly unstable and gets rancid very easily. Barlean's is the only brand I've found that doesn't taste rancid to me.
