Please help me...just found out I have Hepatitus C and I am very scared and depressed

I just found out that I have Hepatitus C and I am extremely scared and deeply saddened. I am most scared because I believe that I contracted this in 1991 which means that it has been damaging my liver all along. That really scares me because most of the information that I have read since I got home keeps reiterating the fact that early detetion is paramount. I would appreciate anyone giving me any support but also I need to know what questions I should be asking the doctors. Please tell me what treatments seem to work the most, which drugs work the most, and anything else that is important. I am scheduled for a liver ultra-sound... Should I ask for something more thorough? Is that accurate?
