Re: Organic raw cashews and what happened to me...

My experience for what it's worth:

experience #1: As a kid I used to eat "GooGoo Clusters" until the summer I bought one of these and opened it--it was crawling with all sorts of lively critters. This has also happened with other GooGoo Clusters and candybars with nuts. Wasn't until later that I was told that this is the time of year that whatever is living in nuts tends to hatch out when the temps get warm. Since then I've made it a practice not to eat nuts during hot weather. Perhaps it's a universal thing that nuts contain eggs or whatever, regardless of raw, roasted or cooked in some manner and they just hatch out in warm weather.

experience #2: I decided to be tough and make my own Black-Walnut tincture one year, as my mom's back yard had two Black-Walnut trees. I was in process of opening the green/black hulls and scraping out the black stuff to tincture when I found fat, healthy worms living in it. How this reconciles with bw as being good for parasites, I'm still not clear on. Gave up that project on the spot and have since bought the bottled stuff for the parasite cleanses.

experience #3: I had a previoiusly opened container of Superfood (Schulze's product) that I had not used in months. When I took the top off, there lying on the top was one of the liveliest, fattest, juiciest worms I've ever seen.

I think it's interesting that yes, indeedy, the worms found especially in the Black-Walnut s and the Superfood were absolutely some of the healthiest I've ever run across!

All in all, it hasn't made me give up on Superfood, bw tincture or even candybars (unfortunately)--but I no longer buy candybars with nuts in them during the warm months. --However, I do toss everything I find inhabited by critters and buy fresh.

Go figure.
