Re: new with a question
Hi JB,
First of all, congrats on quiting smoking and working towards a healthier life!
A thorough
Colon Cleanse can produce some miraculous results... BUT they don't happen overnight! It took a lot of time for the gunk to build up in your body, and it will take time and hard work to get rid of it. Some people need 3-5 doses of p/b a day for several months in order to see a significant release of mucoid plaque. If your stools are frequently pencil-thin, this is a clear sign of a lot of toxic congestion and possibly a spastic bowel...not uncommon with IBS.
Eatting smaller, more frequent meals is often a healthier way to eat. However, you might want to pay attention to how you're combining your foods. Proteins and starches combined can cause a lot of digestive problems for some people, including gas. Read up on food combining for a better understanding of how this effects your digestion. Some people do fine with eatting meat, poultry and fish, others not so well...pay attention to your body and do some experimenting with your diet to see what best agrees with you.
Raw vegetables and fruits supply an abundance of nutrients and enzymes and should be included in any diet. Some people eat only raw...others do better with a combination of raw and cooked foods. See what works best for you. A
healthy Diet can be incredibly yummy!
Now for the bad news...GIVE UP THE COFFEE!!! Most of the problems that you have mentioned are made worse or even caused by excessive caffeine. It can cause anxiety and paranoia (caffeine intoxication), it contributes greatly to an acid stomach and reflux, it is a diuretic and will lead to constipation and it aggravates IBS. If you are drinking it with milk,
Sugar or artificial sweeteners it produces even more problems. When using psyllium and
Bentonite it is essential that you are well-hydrated or the combination can cause binding and lead to more constipation. Coffee...especially in a large quantity...will not enable you to be adequately hydrated to do a successful cleanse.
You may be feeling like you have to give up everything that you have enjoyed. But perhaps a better way to think about it is that you are now giving yourself the chance to be healthy and feel good once again. And as you eliminate the toxins from your body, the weight will come off, too.
