War Mongering - Rumsfeld invokes the Caliph Threat
Rumsfeld Nov 20 2005 -
"We are dealing with a global war on terror, with people who are determined to establish a CALIPHATE" .
I heard that today on the morning news in a Rummy interview.
He has thrown down the gauntlet here - it has NEVER been said so directly, admitted as it were, that America's "War on Terror" is a war on Islam. We suspected it, with the fomenting Christians at the helm there in Washington. But its never been said so plainly.
There is no Caliph threat. Islamic nations themselves would have to agree on a single entity as a leader, and that gets less likely every year - since 1928 when the last vestiges of a global caliph were disposed of [see the Wiki link below].
"The closest thing to a Caliphate in existence today is the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), an international organization founded in 1969 consisting of the governments of most Muslim-majority countries. But the OIC has limited influence; many Muslims are not aware that the organization exists, and its resolutions are often ignored even by member nations."
Like I said, there is no Caliph threat.
But lets pretend for a moment that there is a global movement for establishment of Islamic Governance, and all Muslims agree on a Caliphe. If the world's people decide to go Islam, even a 55% majority of people, it would be the right thing to do, barring undue influence from any source [eg military]. Demographics show an increase of Muslim believers, a decrease of Christians and ALL other religions - Islam is the only growing religion. people stiull have the right to choose their religion. THe other growing group is athiests, which are just people fed up with the failures and sins of religious organisations.
After all, Christians evoked that right and went ahead and subjugated many races around the world in their various conquests. Perhaps the RW Christians of America today see Islam doing that and fear that this is a right of a Muslim majority.
Personally, I would not like to see it happen. It won't, but if it were, I would not raise arms against those who choose it. Eventually, Islam will become the worlds only remaining religion, and from there we will give up the idea of god completely - in another 100 years. It was a dumb idea all along - humanity could have progressed spiritually so much more by keeping spiritual matters a personal thing, where a relation with 'your god' is at it's best anyhow.
