On Forgiveness....
I would like to say, Forgiveness has been misunderstood by the masses...
(Not you Karlin)
It is not for them that we forgive...but rather for ourselves. It is SO important to understand what forgiveness REALLY is. It frees our hearts, lessens the burdens we carry, so making room for compassion and love and joy....
When a person says to you "I forgive you" but they do little to let the hurt pass out of them, it becomes a toxin called resentment....and this will contanimate any relationship it comes in contact with. No one says it is EASY to forgive--in the TRUE SENSE--but it IS necessary for our own growth and peace of heart.
In religion, 'forgiveness' is used as a sort of 'righteous' tool...religions send the message that forgiveness comes from people who are on the RIGHT path...and is given to people who are on the WRONG path....I disagree with this backwards way of thinking. It is not forgiveness unless and until you can look at the other person, or people, and FEEL the compassion, UNDERSTAND where their action or words may have stemmed from....and then release the negative energy into the universe, seeing the forgiven as your bretheren...as YOURSELF...only on a different path from your own.
I apologize for the preaching tone...please see beyond the written word here....I believe some thing need to be bluntly spoken, (or written), and gently heard....
