Re: Christianity and religion

I have to agree with you Thomas, that it shouldnt be so complicated. Like you I have sat through a billion sermons, listened to all the rules etc so know where you are coming from. My view is that religion and christianity are two different things, being religious does not automatically make you christian. When you study history you realise that it is only man himself who makes it so complicated with all these different philosophies, dogma, rules etc. All God said was love Me and keep My commandments, then man comes along and wants everyone to play by his rules. Just think of the number of people who were burned at the stake in the dark ages, to try and save their souls, all by so called christians and all for their version of the faith. this is not Christianity, this is religion at its worst.
I have attended church all my life but must admit I dont always follow the exact teachings of my chosen "religion" I feel I have the right to my own opinions and as long as my life is not in contradiction to the Bible I dont feel the need to follow every little manmade rule to keep God's favour.
Well thats enough waffle for now, Love and God Bless to all you out there.
