Ya, I have seen them too.
The loudest ones, with the 'strongest' messages, using the most fear-tactics, etc. etc. are sure to be the most phoney.

I grew up in a house where they were more 'real', in that they actually did read the bible and lived by the rules as laid out by their parents,my grandparents.
They did not play cards as children, a Lutherian idea I think.
But then they did cave in, and even the women played cards by the time I was born. Shocking!


The big deal with them both is GUILT. Lots of guilt, guilt as the main motivator on what to do next, how to live.
And suffering, to the point that psychosomatic illnesses were more prominent with them - being in pain was like Jesus, for one thing.
