Re: Everything feels so surreal...

Hi, I practice a form of energywork based on grounding... Grounding helps to anchor one's energy more firmly in the body. An important part of grounding is just learning to do the basics of taking care of oneself -- American culture at least tends to teach people to go so fast they often don't take care of themselves. If I want to work on my grounding, I do little things that help me feel more like being here in my own life. Like if my desk is messy & it stresses me, I'll organize it. Or wash the dishes, put on warm socks (it's cold here today!), wash my bedsheets, pick up the things I've thrown around, so on. Helps me feel less floaty. Doing the things that make one feel safe & cared for.
I know a lot of how people see being spiritual is, that the dreaming is good -- I'm not disagreeing with that, just saying that it's nice to have a choice to ground, too. So I'm not dreaming while I'm driving, or dreaming when I feel uncomfortable with it and would rather be solid. Balance it all out. Sometimes surreal is interesting, but sometimes it's uncomfortable.
Being grounded when I want to is a whole different kind of spiritual for me.
Anyway, when I was studying grounding, everyone in class felt just like you sound. It's not a mental illness, not at all. It comes from having a lot of energy (even if you don't feel energetic) -- the more energy you have, the harder it is to ground it, the further you can float if you aren't anchored. Having a lot of energy doesn't necessarily mean you're physically energetic, I sure wasn't, it's more like being intense, feeling things vividly, or feeling like you see things in more dimensions than the people around you.
And connecting to people is harder to do when you're floating, because connections happen through physical bodies, and if you're floating you're not very present in your body. (You know, like when you're driving along & realize you haven't seen the road for the last 5 blocks, or when you're at work and realize you must be thirsty because you haven't remembered to drink anything all day.)
Anyway, I'm just passing through and I thought I'd comment. If you think you want to work on grounding all you have to do is hold that intention, of developing more grounding, and leave yourself open to find things that will help. If you decide to look for a teacher, look for one you feel safe with. Take care!
