Re: New Pope: The Fix is In!

Oddly enough, I was just having a conversation the other day with someone who believed that the reason we are letting our leaders destroy the world is that we dont think enough.

(imo) it is not thinking that is the problem, it is lack of rational, logical thinking. Also a problem is the kind of thinking spawned by feeling of insecurity, lack of control, and fear. Thinking that is spawned by negative emotions tends to elicit negative thinking (and visa versa). I think the problems we face are those that are faced by any technologically advanced society. We are capable of destroying our world -- are we evolved spiritually enough to make the choices that we need to not to destroy it? Have we become secure enough not to be lead by/and to stop leaders/those in power who in their insane quest for power/control will set in motions those events which will eventually destroy our world.

Think of the places where there is much violence in the world. Do you think that the people in these places are guilty of thinking too much? I think that they are, for the most part, acting off of their feelings. They are manipulated by others with their feelings. and even tho it may be thinking that has built the technology and weapons of distruction, I would put forth that it is feelings of insecurity and lack of control that lead to the lust for power (feelings) which provide the impetus for developing the technology that contributes to the destruction of this world.

I personally dont think artists necessarily "feel" more than other people. Some do, some dont. Many famous (and not so famous) artists were/are very callous people who dont appear (at least on the outside to feel very much and are very analytical people).

If animals "feel" which I believe is possible, then it is likely that it is something that has been developed by them in their association w/humans. Animals have a spiritual connection and instinct and they act within the confines of their nature (for the most part). It is likely that some animals are capable of thinking and these tend to be animals that we most tend to think of as having feelings. Feeling and thinking, though different, are not incompatible. It is the balance of thinking and feeling in tandem with one's spirituality (imho) that tend to bring out the best in a person/being/entity.
