Bonfire of Vanities

This is one of the only books that I haven't finished reading in my lifetime. I expect that I will finish it at some point, but for some reason I just didn't enjoy it at all. I was surprised that it had done so well on the best seller's lists. While nowhere as complex as Thomas Pynchon's "Gravity Rainbow," I find myself reacting the same way that I did when reading that text- fighting my way through the book... forcing myself to read it in order to complete it someday. Interesting how one person can find a book so compelling while to others it seems to be little more than a compilation of words rather than worthwhile content. Some of my favorite authors seem to be boring to most people so it's strange to find myself less than enthralled with a book that performed so well in bookstores.
