Try Bel Canto, Atonement, The Corrections and Bonfire of Vanities

I follow reviews, and read as much as I have time. Most often I am disappointed by "recommended reads" for example
S G Sebald: Austerlitz, Tim Winton: Dirt Music, Pat Barker: Border Crossing.

However, I did enjoy the above by Ann Patchett, Ian McEwan, Franzen and Tom Wolfe.

I am about to read: Yan Martel: Life of Pi, and William Boyd: Any Human Heart - has anyone read these?

any other recommendations?
