Trouble with telephone companies always reminds of what happened to my dh and his flatmate. They got a bill from the phone company that included an international call, neither had made one so they rang the company to complain. Their records were called up on the computer and they were told that it was a call made on their phone and there was nothing they could do about it. So the flatmate said that he thought it was one of their technicians who had used their line at the exchange to make the international call. He got a curtly answered "That is an impossibility, there is no way that can be done, our system doesn't allow that. That sort of thing is only rumors". So DH's flatmate said to the person, that he gets a special discount and for him to look up the reason for the discount and to tell him what it was. The guy looked it up and said "oh you're a staff member". DH's flatmate then went onto tell him that both he and DH were "Stores and Exchange Inspectors". The call was taken off the bill.
