Advertising influence but not responsiblity

"Foods that fatten are dangerous now that there is an impending obesity epidemic. Dangerous substances should not be on TV. Compared to herbs and supplements, fattening foods [carb rich] are much more dangerous overall to our society."
-Brian Gimley, 1971

And now 35 years later, it really is an epidemic!

Anything that has "power" must be used responsibly, whether its a lawnmower, or just influence over others.

Media is powerfull, and there are restrictions on what is shown on TV or written in newspapers.
Advertising is possibly the most powerfull part of mass media, partly due to the amount of effort, and money, that goes into making TV ads.

TV ads are contributing to people dying and suffering, there is no doubt of that. No authority is moving to protect us.

The big juicy fast-food burgers with their 60% dairy-cow meat patty and crappy whitebread buns; the processed packaged foods; and chips and colas and Sugar sugar sugary foods are no less a health threat than sticking your finger in an electrical outlet, but they don't advertise for us to do that. Many illegal substances are less harmfull.

OBESTIY IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN MEDICINAL HERBS AND SUPPLEMENTS, WHICH CANNOT BE ADVERTISED AS HAVING MEDICINAL PROPERTIES.

When we see that OBESITY has become the most comon threat to our health, overtaking tobacco use, advertisers just might stop making the ads if they were not so happy about their bottom line and our huge bottoms that we try to get rid of, often while watching TV.

Will it be suggested on the evening news someday that overweight people could shut the TV off to help lose weight?

Possibly, they knew that their processed foods would make us fat. These foods that look so good on TV ads and stimulate our appetites artificially at any time of day the TV is on, maybe they actually planned it so we would not be able to resist the Ads. Of course they did/do.

And if there is additives in the food that make us crave it [ Kevin Trudeau says addictive additives are a reality], we just won't be able to stop eating, craving, eating , craving.

And the CARB RICH foods we have been "trained" to eat since the advent of processing grains came along, maybe those foods create a metabolic situation that makes us put on fat.

What we eat, the way its advertised, and then the ways we try to lose the overweight result of those habits are all of one plan.

Food processors are in cahoots with the medical-pharmacy people, and the weight loss industry. This obesity epidemic is raking in BILLIONS of dollars every year. Cross-invested in financial aspects of each other's business means that none of the players will ever out the others ones, they will protect each other and protect themselves that way.

I knw its been said before, but it needs to be shouted over and over until we get a decent morality going in this country that would see this kind of thing voluntarily withdrawn/not used. Some nations actually do get that going.

Foods that fatten are dangerous now that there is an obesity epidemic. Dangerous substances should not be on TV. Compared to herbs and supplements, fattening foods [carb rich, I say] are much more dangerous overall to our society.
