I was having a dull, ongoing pain for about two weeks in my lower left abdominal area. At first I thought I had stretched a muscle but when the pain led to a low grade faver and weakness, I thought I'd go to the doctor to have it checked. He immediately diagnosed it as diverticulosis. He told me to drink plenty of water and take metamucil once a day. For peace of mind, he had me scheduled for a complete blood test to rule out other causes and a lower GI (barium enema). Through the process they took many pictures of my colon. They discovered just as the doctor said, diverticulosis. In the process I found this website and understood, in my case, that the diverticulosis was caused by Gallstones that were interfering with my digestive sysetm. Over the past three months, the pain has left through proper diet changes and watching my fiber. The only thing I have left are hives which are decreasing day to day. By the way, I have found that taking cat's claw is GREAT for diverticulosis.
