Re: HAS ANY1 HEARD OF folliculitis!!

I don't seem to have hair loss, but I do have folliculitis on my scalp. Antibiotics helped, but I was on them for a long time. Every time I stopped taking them it got worse. Finally, I decided I didn't want to be on Antibiotics forever, so I stopped taking them. The folliculitis got worse for a while, then slowly (over a few weeks) got better. I still have it, but usually not too bad. Have you tried staying off Antibiotics for an extended period of time to see if it would resovle on it's own? My dermatologist said if I had fewer spots when on antibiotics, to stay on the antibiotics. But I was still having a few breakouts on the antibiotics, so decided to stop the meds and see what happens. I am still looking for answers as to why this happens (cultures are negative for bacteria). It's a very frustrating problem. I don't have a cure but I can imagine your desperation to find answers. I had tests done to thyroid, diabetes, lupus, etc... All were negative. One thought I keep having is perhaps it is caused by some kind of auto immune disease (body fighting itself).
