I hope you can find an alternative for Accutane because of the side effects, cost, etc., but I will tell you that Accutane was the only drug that helped my son. He had NO problems but everyone is different. When I voiced my worries about the side effects to his doctor he told me, "Hey, I gave both my teenagers Accutane and they survived!" We laughed about it and my son started on Accutane the next day. Within 3 weeks he was completely cleared up. Unfortunately, the results did not last but for about six months after he stopped the drug. If you can find an alternative that works I would try it. The older I get the less drugs I like to put in my body (and his). Good luck.
