My husband and I actually decided that we would leave him intact and allow him to make his decision in adulthood but it was he who asked if he could be circumcised so we agreed. In accordance with my husbands traditions we made a big party at home and me and the girls left the room and the procedure was carried out. After we came back in and continued with the feast. My son had a beaming smile on his face so I guess he was happy.
Of course, an uncircumcised penis can also be clean and healthy but its not always that way. I taught my son how to look after his penis from an early age but his foreskin was tight and he never wanted to wash under it. I think, in reality, most uncircumcised boys don't actually have very clean penises. My son has a small scar near the base of his penis and I sometimes wonder if too much skin was removed. If it bothered him he would complain - believe me - I know my own son!
