Re: Help me to understand

I don't know the exact reason for your daughter's cutting. She's the only person who might. All I know is that cutting is nearly always a symptom of a bigger problem. Ignoring that and trying to force someone to stop hurting themselves will only make stuff worse. I'm 19 and have been cutting myself since I was 15. I was suicidal before that and tried to kill myself many times. So I cut to survive, to release the tension and the pain before it builds up so much I can't take it anymore, cause I know it would hurt people if I killed myself.
My parents don't realise there's much wrong with me. They didn't know about the suicide attemps (even though I ended up in hospital once). They found out about the cutting about a year ago but think I've stopped. I was seeing a phsychiatrist at that time but he was no help.
I agree with what the others have said, drugs are a bad idea. Just try make your daughter happy the old fashioned way (be nice, talk to her ect...) Don't push her to talk when she really doesn't want to and don't bother inspecting her for injuries: she'll probably just move to another location.
Hope I've been some help. If you're daughter wants to talk to me she can, just e-mail.
