Help me to understand

I recently found out that my 17 year old daughter is cutting. She has been diagnosed with Depression and her meds were increased yesterday. Can anyone help me to understand why she is doing this? She won't talk to us and isn't really upset that we found out. More angry that she has lost some of her privacy by us finding out. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
