When you click to respond to a message, notice where you type your message right above their it gives you a choice of plain text (automaticaly set) or FCK editor or TinyMCE Editor...if you click to use one of those editors you can then do all sorts of fancy tricks with your words.

You would use it just the same as a Word Processing program.
