Christmas, What It Means For My Family...

Over the years have gone the whole gamit from doing everything to doing nothing or very little, for the calendar day of Christmas.

Now days it is a sweet time of fellowship and giving. We put up a beautiful tree that we cut from a local tree farm and we talk about God's creation and the ever green tree and eternal life. This time is a focus on friends and family that begins a year of continued giving and sharing. It is a great time for sharing cold weather clothing with the homeless in our area and for making a difference in their lives. We choose to take this time that can be very commercial and make it a sweet time in the Lord. Actually, we have done this for many years now. We have often heard our children, in days gone by, telling other children how we celebrate Jesus and love our neighbors during this Christmas season. They also know that this celebration is lived all year long by giving and keeping Jesus our daily focus. Our children have directly involved in food centers, clothing closets and working our local mission all year long. So, they have seen personally that this time of giving and celebration is just the beginning of a new year of walking the walk.
We do exchange gifts which are mostly hand made, greatly cherished items. My family loves this winter celebration of Jesus and we are all so thankful for having shared many such years.
