when i was about twelve years old, my step grandmother told me of a woman who was mean and lived alone. one day someone gave her a bible and she took it, reluctantly, and set it to one side, never reading it. in those days they used sears and roebuck in the outhouse, so when the woman ran out of catalog she remembered the bible she was given and started using it. before she could get to the red letters of the gospels, she got constipated and died not being able to eliminate any more. the doctors could not save her.

well, my step grandmother was more than a half a bubble off plump, but at the time the story bothered me terribly. thank god we grow up and i understand now that god has no need to be so petty, or cruel. Tweet
