Re: the reason for the season

Jesus Christ did not condemn all traditions in themselves, but he was not pleased with the priests and others holding their traditions up higher than the Lord's laws. They were more concerned with him washing his hands than the content of his heart, which was lovely and pure.
Technically, December 25th is not the real birthday of Jesus Christ--but it is for Him that we celebrate this holiday and in His glory and honor. We should celebrate Jesus all year round, but there is nothing wrong with setting aside a special day as well. Romans chapter 14 goes into depth about this very thing. It doesn't really matter which holidays you do or do not celebrate, as long as you give thanksgiving to God. :)
I was thinking the same thing when KrupaClassy mentioned the joy of giving presents, and thought it so wonderful that her parents had taught her that giving was the nature of God and we do it as His children.
You have the freedom to exercise whichever choice you feel is best for you, just wanted to give you my view a little bit there. :) Best to you Trapper :) Caitlin Lorraine
