Re: Foreign films

yes! me too! I love all the films you've all mentioned! perfect, I really liked the Cuckoo too Tracey.

I know I can't remember all the films I'd love to suggest...ummm...

Fellini's 8 1/2 (oh yeah, I love it too)-B&W -ITALY
LA DOLCE VITA /Fellini B&W-ITALY
BUONO, IL BRUTTO, IL CATTIVO/ aka The Good, the Bad and the Ugly /Sergeo Leone -ITALY

A BOUT DE SOUFFLE/ aka Breathless /Jean Luc Godard B&W- FRANCE
SHOOT THE PIANO PLAYER /Truffaut B&W-FRANCE

WILD STRAWBERRIES /Ingmar Bergman B&W-SWEDEN
THE SEVENTH SEAL /Bergman

those are some classic older films! Often I like films that other people think are strange or boring, hmm... what others?

WINGS OF DESIRE /Wim Wenders - good one Tracey! -GERMANY

FITZCARROLDO /Werner Herzog -Stunning movie starring Klaus Kinski -GERMANY
MY BEST FIEND and I do mean Fiend. Herzog's brilliant documentary about Klaus Kinski
AGUIRRE, THE WRATH OF GOD /Werner Herzog -GERMANY

THE GIRL ON THE BRIDGE /Patrice Leconte -FRANCE...nice one!
THE MAN ON THE TRAIN /also Patrice Leconte -FRANCE
AMELIE / Jeunet at Caro -FRANCE Beautiful!
THE CITY OF LOST CHILDREN /Jeunet et Caro -FRANCE

MAN WITHOUT A PAST /Aki Kaurismaki -FINLAND
(a warning-brutal scene at the beginning made me cry)

THE CELEBRATION /Vinterberg? -DENMARK

RAISE THE RED LANTERN /Yimou Zhang - CHINA/HK/TAIWAN

Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN /Alfonso Cuaron -MEXICO/US Spanish language

Ummm, oh yeah, some that are foreign, but not foreign language.

PERFORMANCE /Nicolas Roeg -UK
DON'T LOOK NOW /Nicolas Roeg -UK
BRAZIL /Terry Gilliam -UK

STRICTLY BALLROOM /Baz Luhrman -AUS
MOULIN ROUGE /Baz Lurhman - AUS/US

Oh boy there are so many others! But I can't think of any more!
Then of course we could make a list of US films too, if you're not American, then they'd be foreign too! And Canadian...etc.

I'll post more if I think of them. oh and are you all familiar with the IMDB Internet Movie Data Base? You can look up any film on that website for titles, storyline, director, cast, all of that. a good resource!

okay, happy movie going!

love Alison
