The feelings never go away for me. What I do is I try to avoid food, either in real life or on tv, books, etc. I know some people cook for their families or for their jobs, but I don't know if I could do that. For me it is out of sight, out of mind.
But sometimes I can't avoid it (buying lemons, for example, requires a trip to the food store) and then I just strengthen my resolve before going in and I keep telling myself I can have whatever I want AFTER the MC, but for now, it is the lemon drink. So far that has worked!
