Re: what are the boundaries for reasonable posts?

Curezone, which IMO is probably the best alt-health discussion forum website on the 'net, is based on an 'open' forum model; on the plus side, it's moderated but not heavily (a good thing), allowing a variety of ideas to be presented. OTOH, we'll have the occasional shill masquerading as a satisfied customer, or just plain belligerant posters. It's necessary that we take what we consider as the bad with the good, in the name of open discussion.

While I agree personally with the basic principles (the terrain influences the microbe, emphasis on alkalizing) Moreless espouses, and most importantly, a number of people trying his alkalizing BSM + lime water/kelp drinks seem to be enjoying better health (which is what we're after, yes? *Results*?), there are a couple things to consider.

1) as has already been pointed out- his explanatory rhetoric for how things work often falls short and has at times even been refuted by established, elementary science. He never, ever has admitted he was wrong and probably never will. This gives me the impression he's rather egocentric and loves the attention of people coming to him for help. Not a bad thing per se, but his so-called teachings lack scientific backbone and proof. Speaking of which, anyone differing with his beliefs is not only berated but must come up with solid 'proof' or evidence that this foreign point of view is correct- something he exempts himself from. He'll give very selective encouragement, as, like a cult leader, he'll beautify anyone who sides with him and disparagingly rip on anyone who dares challenge his beliefs. He's the only one on this site who can get away with this on a daily basis. One really shows his true colors with how one treats those who oppose his beliefs or practices, and ML cannot agree to disagree.

2) some have been trying his methods and notificing improvement (which is great); most of these are quick to defend him. Just because his advice has helped some people alkalize doesn't mean that a) these techniques work for everyone equally well (they have failed for some), and b) it legitimizes every word he has to say. To some degree the drinks are helpful, yes, but when he's talking about electrical frequencies and a whole slew of other information that is completely unproven AS IF IT WERE FACTUAL, he misleads people. I'd have no problem w/ him if there was some courtesy shown and all of his scientifically-unvalidated information were presented *AS POSSIBILITIES* or theory, but he presents them as unquestionable truth expecting everyone to follow blindly. I disagree with those saying this isn't a problem. It's like being willing to overlook certain things just because his advice has helped some people, when the same standards should apply to everyone. Perhaps his forum should have an extra disclaimer clearly visible on it.

3) checking out people's postings, one can get a general idea of a poster's psychological or emotional profile by looking at his/her posts over time. The general rambling nature of Moreless' posts, poor use of grammar, punctuation, spelling and idiom, absolute unwillingness to admit incorrect views even when proven wrong, give him IMO the general profile of someone well-practiced (he's been at this for a long time), however attention-seeking, egotistical at times bordering on a god-complex, psychologically unstable person (I won't use the word 'kook' to describe him; to do that we'd have to define 'normal' and although i'm not the most normal person around I do respect people's views and when presenting opinion, state it as just that). The words of someone with this personality need to be cautiously questioned, not accepted at face value.

We ALL need to question the information presented on these open forums. Some people do not, and are willing to follow blindly perhaps because they're desperate enough or their 'teacher' just sounds convincing. No one responds identically to a particular mode of treatment or supplementation and there are no absolutes here! The pitching of his "teachings" need to be constrained to his own forum with an extra disclaimer or three in plain view.
