I usually just avoid getting em wet... never put my head under water, use a straw while drinking etc.

though naturally, the tip of the lip-skin still gets water/liquids on it, either spit or when youre brushing your teeth etc. thankfully, this part of the lip is generally quite lose when wet, so you can easily cut it off with a pair of siccors.

though if i do end up getting em really wet i just let them dry, the thicker the layer of dead skin the less red my lips will look, so for me its better than peeling it off.
