How to use vitamin C to stop a cold
in its tracks.
Dear Molly,
You've learned something very valuable that
will keep you cold-free for the rest of your
life.
Vitamin C is the "ammunition" that your
immune system prefers to use, to fight off
infections.
I've been taking between 6 and 14 grams of
vitamin C every day for the last 28+ years.
My immune system has used that vitamin C
to keep me healthy. Since 1977, I've had one
cold (in 2005) and it lasted 3 days. I zapped it
with 60 grams (60,000 mg) of vitamin C, the
most I've ever taken in a 24-hour period.
I give much of the credit for my excellent health to that daily megadose of vitamin C.
But several times a year, Molly, I will
suddenly sneeze -- I call it "the sneeze
from nowhere" -- and I KNOW that a cold-virus
has sneaked through my defense system.
When that happens, I IMMEDIATELY take 4,000
mg of vitamin C. And 99 times out of 100,
that extra dose will stop the cold in its
tracks. The only time it didn't, was last
winter when I woke up one morning with a
full-blown cold. I took 20 grams a day,
for the first two days, and then 60 grams
of vitamin C on Day #3. When I woke up on
Day #4, the cold was gone.
The trick is to zap that first sneeze
immediately; not two hours later, or even
30 minutes later, but immediately. I keep
vitamin C tablets in the car's glove
compartment for precisely that reason.
I urge you to do the same thing. You'll save
yourself a LOT of down-time over the years
by (1) taking large daily doses of vitamin
C, and (2) zapping the first signs of a cold
with more vitamin C.
Enjoy these warm Spring days in good health!
Blessings,
Owen
