Vitamin C neutralizing chlorine for bath and shower

A friend today told me that vitC will neutralize bath and shower water from chlorine. I found some info online, mostly from a product called Vitashower. They also sell bath tablets and say that 1 Gram of ascorbic acid will neutralize 100 gallons of 1ppm chlorinated water. It supposedly works with hot water, where carbon filters fail. Why buy the fancy tablets for the bath and just use the store bought Vit C? You would need the special shower head though for showers. Has anybody experimented with this? Sounds cool. I love taking baths in the winter but hate the idea of doing more harm than good. I have always had sneezing fits after long hot showers, maybe the chlorine is the reason.
