you can have one and two at the same time. they would have to culture and actual sore though to reveal the type at whatever location. i am guessing that you have type one because its on your hands. type one is more catchy and is more likely to infect other body parts like the hands. i could be wrong but statistically speaking that could be what you are dealing with. good side of that if it is true...type one makes you break out less frequently than type two. so maybe you will be like me and in a year not deal with break outs anymore. i have type one.

they did a throat swab to probably check for strep or other stds. you can get those in your mouth/throat too.
