Re: couldn't find: HSV2 precaution question:

Hi. Was wondering if you could elaborate on this statement and refer me to some real clinical research which supports it:

"So here's the deal, most people pass the virus to another when they have no symptoms present."

I ask this because although I have heard it mentioned here and other places, I have yet to encounter any of the medical studies supporting the ease of spreading without outbreaks..

My experience was nothing like this. I had unprotected sex with the girl I got it from upwards of 50 times before being infected. And as not to seem too irresponsible, we definitely had "the talk". "Have you been tested recently?" "Are you clean?" before any of this (I don;t need to go into the confusion on her part concerning this question, but she definitely did not know she had it)

We were having sex all the time and it wasn't until some very traumatic stuff happened in her life, she went on a drinking and smoking rampage, that I got it. And it was definitely an outbreak on her end as she was itching herself down there while sleeping at the same time/night. She just didn't know the cause of the itching I suppose and the outbreak was perhaps hidden inside of her a bit.

Anyway, that is my experience. Didn't get it for a long time from someone who had it until they had an obvious outbreak. And zero chance of cheating by her beforehand or any of that nonsense.

Just wondering, because I have seen this non-symptomatic transmission info thrown around but have yet to encounter the actual medical data. And I mean the real clinical studies, not just statements from herpes.org or whatever.

Thanks,

~b
