I emailed the Dr. who is responsible for the original research on DSMO, which is an industrial solvent, with some, medicinal properties.

(That is, if you can get medical quality DMSO. Since the FDA has not okayed it for general medical aplication, the chances of finding actual medical grade is hit and miss. Industrial grade will have contaminants that will be absorbed into the skin by the very nature of the DMSO)

Neveranoutbreak.com claims DMSO destroys the virus. Dr. Stanley Jacob, who "discovered" DMSO, is not aware of any studies done that show DMSO kills any virus. (dmso.org) Otherwise, it should work just as well on HIV.
I also emailed the Never... web link and they were unable/unwilling to provide any independant verification. It is a scam trying to scare you and take your money!

Chances are, the author of the 'never an outbreak' book has a very light case or it was type 1. Most folks who have genital herpes have such light symptoms, they are not aware they have it.

I came across a great set of web sites that aren't trying to sell something, or scare you.
