I was actually looking into another part of the site when I came across your message. You shouldn't feel wrong about putting up the mezuzah at all, any one thing a person does is valuable and wothrwhile irrespective of all else.

If you are interested in learning more there are so many wonderful sites out there with a wealth of information, one such site is www.aish.com. There is also an organization called Partners in Torah - http://partnersintorah.org/ that sets up people over the phone with sudy partners - whatever you want to study. www.azamra.org also has a wealth of information.
